Three colorful notebooks with Australian wildlife illustrations: echidna, kookaburra, and koala.

Mini, Standard or Premium – Which Wildlife Pack Suits Your Class

Whether you’re a classroom teacher, a homeschooling parent, or just wanting to give your child a head start – every pack is curriculum-aligned to AC v9 and ready to use from the moment you download it.

Not every learner sits in a classroom. Some are at a kitchen table in regional Queensland. Some are in a Year 4 classroom in suburban Melbourne. Some are curious kids whose parents noticed they couldn’t stop talking about cassowaries.

AussieAnimals education packs are built for all of them – aligned to Australian Curriculum Version 9.0, written in Australian English, and structured so that whether you’re a trained teacher or not, you can open the file and know exactly what to do.

The three tiers – Mini, Standard, and Premium – are not the same product at different price points. They serve genuinely different learning situations. Here’s how to know which one is yours.

Mini Packs – One Lesson, Ready in Minutes

Mini packs are built for one session, one goal, one outcome. Everything is consolidated into a single combined file – print it, read the snapshot at the top, and you’re ready to go.

They’re not a stripped-down version of anything else. Minis are purpose-built for single-session delivery, with a focused reading stimulus, a student-facing vocabulary list, one high-quality activity, and an embedded check-in so you can see what landed before the session wraps up.

Best for:

  • Classroom teachers who need a reliable one-lesson resource with no prep overhead
  • Relief teachers who need something that works straight out of the box
  • Homeschooling parents who want a structured wildlife lesson for an afternoon
  • Parents looking to extend what their child is covering at school with one focused session at home
  • Anyone trying an AussieAnimals pack for the first time before committing to a full unit

What’s included:

  • Combined teacher-and-student file (usually around 6–8 pages, sometimes more depending on topic)
  • Lesson Snapshot with timing, big inquiry question, and prep list
  • Abbreviated curriculum alignment (primary AC v9 code and achievement standard)
  • 1-page student reading stimulus
  • 1 core student activity
  • Vocabulary list with student-friendly definitions
  • 1 exit ticket embedded in the lesson flow
  • Answer key and teacher support notes

For homeschoolers and parents: you don’t need a teaching background to use a Mini. The Lesson Snapshot tells you exactly what the session covers, what to ask, and what to look for. The answer key does the rest.

If you’ve never used an AussieAnimals pack before, a Mini is the lowest-commitment way to see exactly how they’re built before you step up.

Standard Packs – A Complete Topic Unit in Three Files

Standard packs are the backbone of the AussieAnimals shop. Three files – a Teacher Guide, a Student Workbook, and Fact Sheets – organised so you can open the guide, read it through, and walk into your session prepared.

They’re built to cover a topic completely, not just touch on it. Four to five lessons, structured activities that move from knowledge to understanding to application, and enough background detail that you feel confident fielding questions.

Best for:

  • Classroom teachers running a complete wildlife unit without building it themselves
  • Homeschooling families who want a multi-week unit with proper structure and curriculum alignment
  • Parents who want to supplement their child’s schooling with a topic they’re already studying – or one they’ve chosen themselves
  • Year coordinators building a consistent resource library across a grade level

What’s included:

Teacher Guide (6 to 8 pages)

  • Pack overview and full curriculum alignment across all relevant AC v9 strands
  • Learning intentions and success criteria per lesson
  • 4 to 5 lesson sequence with timing and flow
  • Teacher background knowledge – key biology, 2 or 3 common misconceptions, and a vocabulary table (8 to 12 terms)
  • Materials and preparation checklist
  • Differentiation guidance for both Support and Challenge learners – embedded, not bolted on
  • Safety notes where relevant (e.g. venomous species, bat handling guidelines)
  • First Nations connections where applicable, sourced from verified references

Student Workbook (separate file)

  • Full reading passage (1 to 2 pages), written at the appropriate year-band reading level
  • 5 to 7 curriculum-aligned activities including at least two that require higher-order thinking
  • Standalone vocabulary page with student-level definitions
  • 3 to 5 embedded lesson check-ins
  • Discussion questions
  • Answer key and teacher section

Fact Sheets (separate file)

  • 2 fact sheet types, ready to display, print, or work from

Standard packs run approximately 22 to 34 pages across the three files – enough to cover a topic thoroughly, tight enough to use without modification.

For homeschoolers and parents: the Teacher Guide is written so that anyone can follow it. You don’t need to interpret curriculum documents or design activities from scratch. The sequence is laid out for you, the background knowledge is there when you need it, and the Student Workbook gives your child something concrete to work through at their own pace.

Note: Standard packs do not include a formal Assessment Suite, Marking Guide, Activity Cards, or a slide deck. Those belong to Premium. If you need to formally assess and report on student learning, step up.

Premium Packs – Full Teach-and-Assess Units

Premium packs are the complete picture. Multiple lessons, a 25-slide presentation deck, formal assessment with rubrics, differentiated pathways for learners at different levels, printable activity cards, and a marking guide – everything disaggregated into separate named files so you can use what you need, when you need it.

Where Standard gives you three clean files, Premium gives you a resource set that can run a full term. Every component is separate, so a classroom teacher can pull up the slides while handing out the workbook, run exit tickets at the end of each lesson, and track results against a proper rubric. A homeschooling parent can use the differentiation file to pitch activities at exactly the right level for their child.

Best for:

  • Classroom teachers running a flagship multi-week unit that needs to meet formal reporting requirements
  • Homeschooling families who want a full, term-length unit with formal assessment, extension tasks, and a structured progression
  • Parents who want their child working through a genuinely rigorous topic – not just a worksheet
  • Science coordinators building a school-wide resource that holds up to curriculum review

What’s included:

Teacher Preparation Guide (14 to 17 pages)

  • Full curriculum alignment including achievement standard links
  • Extended background knowledge (5 paragraphs, deeper misconception analysis, 12–16 term vocabulary table with etymology)
  • Teacher self-check questions to confirm subject confidence before you begin
  • Full cross-subject integration notes (Literacy, Numeracy, Digital Technology)
  • 6-lesson sequence plus optional enrichment and challenge lessons
  • First Nations cultural protocol section where applicable
  • Excursion and incursion suggestions

Student Workbook (separate file)

  • Full reading passages (may be multiple)
  • 10 to 12 activities including multiple higher-order and critical-thinking tasks

Fact Sheets (separate file) – 4 fact sheet types

Exit Tickets (separate file) – 6 lesson check-ins, a Big Inquiry Question check-in, and a student self-assessment

Assessment Suite (separate file) – Formal performance task with checklists

Marking Guide (separate file) – Full rubrics and sample responses

Differentiation file (separate file) – Support pathway, Challenge pathway, and Independent Inquiry extension

Activity Cards (separate file) – All 7 active card types for hands-on tasks

25-slide presentation deck – Sequenced to the lesson plan, provided in .ppt so you can modify if needed

Posters – Up to 3 types

Premium packs run approximately 65 to 95 pages of content across all files, not counting the slide deck.

For homeschoolers and parents: the Differentiation file is particularly useful here. If your child is working ahead, the Independent Inquiry extension gives them somewhere to go. If they need more support, the Support pathway adjusts the pitch without changing the topic. The marking guide means you can assess their work against real criteria – useful for portfolios, for reporting, and for showing your child what genuine quality looks like.

Still Not Sure Which Tier to Choose?

If you want one great session – at school, on the kitchen table, or as a weekend activity – start with a Mini. Low commitment, immediate payoff.

If you’re planning a complete unit, whether that’s a classroom term topic or a homeschool study block, and you want everything structured and ready to go – Standard is the right call.

If you need formal assessment, a slide deck, differentiated pathways, and a resource set built to last a full term – and you want it to hold up whether a curriculum reviewer or your own child is asking the hard questions – Premium is built for exactly that.

Every pack, regardless of tier, is aligned to Australian Curriculum Version 9.0, written in Australian English, and produced with the same editorial care that goes into every piece of content on AussieAnimals.com.
