Southern Cassowary Rainforest Mini Pack — Year 4 Science
Bring rainforest relationships to life with a low-prep Year 4 Science mini pack on Southern Cassowaries, seed dispersal and ecosystem connections. Includes teacher guidance, student reading, scaffolded activities, an exit ticket and print-ready classroom files.
A ready-to-use science mini lesson exploring rainforest interdependence, seed dispersal and habitat relationships for Year 4 students.
Save planning time with a structured Year 4 Science mini pack that helps students explore why the Southern Cassowary is so important to rainforest ecosystems.
This ready-to-use teaching resource focuses on rainforest interdependence, seed dispersal, producers, consumers, decomposers and the relationship between living things in a habitat. Students learn how cassowaries depend on rainforest plants for food and shelter, and how rainforest plants may also depend on cassowaries to spread seeds.
The pack is designed to support curriculum-connected teaching through Australian wildlife examples that are relevant, memorable and easy to discuss. It connects strongly to AC9S4U01, with supporting links to inquiry skills, geography and literacy where used in the activities.
Teachers can use this pack for a 45–60 minute lesson, relief teaching, revision, a conservation-themed science lesson, homeschool learning or as support for Year 3–4 composite classes. The included reading, activity, scaffold, exit ticket and answer key make it easy to teach with confidence and check student understanding quickly.
Students will practise reading for meaning, identifying cause-and-effect relationships, using scientific vocabulary and explaining how changes to one species can affect other living things in an ecosystem.
This is a downloadable teaching resource with print-ready files included. No physical product will be shipped.
