The Aussie Animals Beginning Sound Sort Pack is a Foundation English Mini Pack designed to help young learners listen for, identify and sort beginning sounds using familiar Australian animal pictures.
Students practise hearing the first sound in animal names such as kangaroo, koala, wombat, wallaby, possum, bilby, bandicoot, dingo and numbat. The pack supports early phonological awareness and letter-sound recognition through teacher-led modelling, sorting mats, cut-and-paste activities, oral prompts and a simple exit ticket. The resource also includes pronunciation guidance for trickier animal names such as emu, quoll and echidna, helping teachers use animal examples accurately and confidently.
This resource is suitable for classroom lessons, relief teaching, small-group phonics support, homeschool learning or early literacy revision.
